Auto Power Spectra of One-Particle Velocity Distributions in Two- Dimensional Decaying Turbulence

چکیده
Two-dimensional decaying turbulence is simulated using the lattice Boltzmann method with the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook collision operator. The simulation results are analyzed in the spectral space and the auto power spectral density functions of the one-particle distribution functions are presented. It is shown that both the equilibrium and the non-equilibrium parts of the distribution functions have a region which can be described by a power-law. Particle Acceleration in Pulsar Wind Nebulae
Plerionic supernova remnants exhibit radio emission with remarkably flat spectral indices ranging from α = 0.0 to α = −0.3. The origin of very hard particle energy distributions still awaits an explanation, since shock waves generate particle distributions with synchrotron spectra characterized by α ≤ −0.5. Acceleration of high energy leptons in magnetohydrodynamic turbulence instead may be res...
متن کاملVelocity statistics distinguish quantum turbulence from classical turbulence.
By analyzing trajectories of solid hydrogen tracers, we find that the distributions of velocity in decaying quantum turbulence in superfluid 4He are strongly non-Gaussian with 1/v(3) power-law tails. These features differ from the near-Gaussian statistics of homogenous and isotropic turbulence of classical fluids. We examine the dynamics of many events of reconnection between quantized vortices...
متن کاملComparison between Lagrangian and Eulerian mesoscopic modelling approaches for inertial particles suspended in decaying isotropic turbulence
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate an unsteady Eulerian approach from a direct comparison with a Lagrangian approach for the simulation of an ensemble of non-colliding particles interacting with a decaying homogeneous isotropic turbulence given by DNS. Comparison between both approaches is is carried out for two different particle inertia from global instantaneous quantities such as parti...
متن کاملRevealing intermittency in experimental data with steep power spectra
The statistics of signal increments are commonly used in order to test for possible intermittent properties in experimental or synthetic data. However, for signals with steep power spectra [i.e., E(ω) ∼ ω−n with n ≥ 3], the increments are poorly informative and the classical phenomenological relationship between the scaling exponents of the second-order structure function and of the power spect...
متن کاملDespiking of Turbulent Flow Data in Gravel Bed Stream
Abstract—The present experimental study insights the decontamination of instantaneous velocity fluctuations captured by Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV) in gravel-bed streams to ascertain near-bed turbulence for low Reynolds number. The interference between incidental and reflected pulses produce spikes in the ADV data especially in the near-bed flow zone and therefore filtering the data are ...
